We do love a local row here at the The Dose.ie and this story from the Laois Carlow border has certainly peaked our interest.

A Welcome To Carlow sign on the Laois side of the Barrow Bridge in the town of Graiguecullen has caused consternation on the Laois side of the town.

The town straddles both counties and there is plenty of local rivalry depending on which side of the Barrow locals hail from, most notably  when both teams meet on the GAA pitches!!

The erection of the sign on what is known as the Laois side of the Barrow Bride has led to dismay amongst some confused locals.

Local Int’d  Cllr. Ben Brennen told Midlands 103 Radio that they sign has caused upset amongst Laois locals in the area and that the sign itself is located in the wrong place by some 300 meters and needs to be relocated across the river, ah confusion about borders; it’s a real sign of the times!!

There has been no word yet from the UN as to how this issue will be resolved and its hoped that this matter can sorted out  locally and that the people of Laois and Carlow can put their many, many differences aside, embrace each others traditions and values and come together in a spirit of love and unity.

And if they do there might just be hope for Israel and Palestine!
